The LIFT Network is Oceans Alive's platform for women's economic empowerment and conservation leadership on the Kilifi coast. LIFT stands for Livelihoods, Independence, Finance, and Transformation.

Coastal women are disproportionately affected by declining fish stocks and ocean degradation - and disproportionately excluded from the governance decisions that shape their futures. LIFT changes that by connecting women to income-generating opportunities (Trash4Cash, eco-tourism, kitchen gardens) while building their leadership within community conservation structures.

Through LIFT, women participate in BMU meetings, co-management planning sessions, and conservation monitoring. They are not beneficiaries of conservation - they are its architects.

LIFT Network training sessions - building conservation leaders from within communities

Women are agents of conservation, not beneficiaries. LIFT is designed to expand women's economic independence alongside ocean stewardship.
